Granby Officer helps save students life

Granby Patrolman Gary Poehler and others were credited with saving the life of an 18 year old SABIS High School wrestler after he had an apparent heart attack on Wednesday. Poehler and others, including a Springfield Fire Dept. Captain, performed CPR and used a defibrillator when the wrestler collapsed after a meet. See the story on Channel 40 and on Channel 22. Ptl Poehler’s son is also a member of the SABIS wrestling squad.

Accident closes Pumps

An accident at Cumberland Farms yesterday put their Gas pumps temporarily out of commission.  A vehicle entered the lot, skidded on the ice, and struck a pump, causing a very minor gas spill. Police and fire vehicles responded to the scene. There were no injuries. The pumps will be out of service until they are inspected for safety. Employees indicate that the pumps should be running on Thursday or Friday.

Eddie eagle visits West Street school

On Wednesday EDDIE EAGLE and School Resource Officer Kurt Carpenter visited the West Street School. Ptl. Carpenter and Eddie provided the students with information on safety around firearms.

Sgt. Al Wishart Named Acting Lieutenant

 On January 20th, the Board of Selectmen named Sgt Al Wishart to the position of Acting Lieutenant. The position will be come effective January 26th. Al,  his wife Brenda and their son  reside here in Granby.
