A large pine tree broke in half, blocking Porter Street ( at the intersection of Crescent) for approximately 1 hour this afternoon ( Wednesday). The tree landed on the power lines causing a line to snap which ignited a small fire.

Traffic was diverted while waiting for National Grid  to shut off the power after which the  Fire Department extinguished a small fire and the Highway Department removed the tree.
