Granby Police, S.A.L.T., DEA , District Attorney Dave Sullivan’s Office and the Hampshire County Sheriff’s Department Collaborate for a Sucessful Drug Take Back Program

On April 30, 2011 the Granby Police, S.A.L.T., DEA , District Attorney Dave Sullivan’s Office and the Hampshire County Sheriff’s Department collaborated in the Drug Take Back Program. During the four hour window, 10:00am to 2:00pm, there were fifty cars that provided over 126 pounds of unwanted prescription medication. As the boxes were filled they were sealed and numbered with Granby written on them. At 2:00pm Officer Robert Ash and Officer Gary Poehler transported these unwanted medications to Northampton where they met up and transferred the medications to members of the Hampshire County Sheriff’s Department and they took these prescriptions to be destroyed.

Granby Athletics Postpones Charity Car Wash until Sunday May 1st, Due to Weather Forcast

If you want your car to be sparkly clean and support Granby Athletics please join us on Sunday, May 1st for a car wash. Students and members of the athletic teams will be washing cars, and accepting donations of any amount. The Car Wash will take place at 393 East State Street in Granby at the East Meadow School. The Car Wash will start at 10am and end at 2pm. The Granby Fire and Police Departments will be present with equipment on display. Also if you can’t make it students are accepting per car pledges. Granby Police Department to Participate in Drug Take Back Program April 30th

 The Granby Police Department, the Hampshire County Sheriff’s Department and District Attorney David Sullivan’s Office are teaming up to help you dispose of unwanted prescription drugs you may have around the house. Granby Police and Ambulance Personnel Respond to Fatal Motorcycle Accident on New Ludlow Rd.

On April 11, 2011 at approximately 6:25 AM the Granby Police Department received multiple calls for a single vehicle crash on New Ludlow Road near the intersection of South Street.  Police and Ambulance personnel from Granby responded to the incident. 

 

Responding personnel arrived and found the crash involved a single motorcycle.  The initial accident investigation showed that a 2007 Honda CBR 600 motorcycle operated by 28 year old Abimael Mestre of Holyoke Street in Ludlow was headed east on New Ludlow Road when it went off the right side of the road and collided with a utility pole. It was determined by medical personnel on scene that Mestre had succumbed to injuries he received in the crash.

 

Massachusetts State Police from the Crime Scene Services Section, the Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Section and State Police Detectives assigned to Northwestern District Attorney David Sullivan’s Office were called to the scene to assist with the investigation. 

 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Granby Police Respond to Rollover Accident on Pleasant St.

On April 2, 2011 at approximately 07:42, Granby Police, Fire, and Ambulance Personnel were dispatched to the area of Pleasant St., near Hilltop Acres, for a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival officers found a 2005 Toyota Sienna van lying on the driver’s side, in the northbound lane of travel. The operator of the vehicle, Ms. Leah Chenelle of Hebron,  Ct., had already crawled out of the vehicle and was standing on the side of the road. Ms. Chenelle and her passenger, Cocoa (the family dog), were not injured in the accident. The accident was investigated by Sergeant Kevin O’Grady and Officer Robert Ash.
