Granby Police, Fire and ambulance personnel responded to a two car crash in the area of 275 East State Street at approximately 2:55 PM. Responders arrived and found two vehicles had been involved in an apparent head on crash. Responders tended to the occupants of both vehicles. Ambulance personnel from Granby Ambulance, Ludlow Fire, Belchertown Fire and South Hadley Fire District 1 responded to the scene to assist. Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Belchertown responded to the scene as well. The vehicles involved in the crash included a 1997 Jeep Wrangler and a 2015 Toyota Camry. Information about the occupants of both vehicles is being withheld until families have been notified of the crash.

State Police Personnel from the Collison and Reconstruction Section have been requested and will be responding to the scene to help with the investigation.

Route 202 between Taylor Street and North Street is expected to be closed to traffic while officers investigate the cause of the crash.

Update to Route 202 crash-

The crash that occurred yesterday on Route 202 involved two vehicles. The officer’s initial investigation revealed that the 1997 Jeep was headed East and driven by Breana Monte from Chicopee. The 2015 Toyota was operated by Michael Desmith of Belchertown was headed West.

Witness’s reported observing the Jeep cross over the centerlines into oncoming traffic. The Toyota driven by Desmith was unable to avoid the collision. Occupants of both vehicles were transported to the hospital for undisclosed injuries.
