On September 5, 2017 at approximately 14:15 Granby Police, Ambulance and Fire Department were dispatched to the area of 134 Carver St. for a reported accident between a motorcycle and a pickup truck. It was reported to dispatch that there were two people on the motorcycle one was unconscious and the other was talking and had an injury to her arm. While in route a mutual aid request for a second ambulance, from South Hadley District 1 Ambulance was called in. Upon arrival officers began rendering first aid to the patients and Granby Ambulance and Fire personnel arrived and care was transferred to them. The patients were then transported to area hospitals by Granby and South Hadley Ambulance. The operator of the motorcycle succumbed to his injuries upon arrival to the hospital. The operator’s information is being withheld pending family notification. The accident is being investigated by the Granby Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Section and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit attached to the Northwest District Attorney’s Office.
