Granby Police, Fire and Ambulance Personnel as well as South Hadley Ambulance Respond to Crash on Chicopee St.

Granby Police, Fire and Ambulance personnel responded to a 911 call for a head on collision in the area of 239 Chicopee Street at approximately 2:00 PM this afternoon. Officers arrived and found the crash involved two vehicles that collided head on in the southbound lane. Fire and ambulance personnel from Granby and South Hadley Fire District One worked to remove the drivers of both vehicles from their respective vehicles. The jaws of life were used to remove one of the operators. Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Belchertown were called and assisted with the crash as well.
The crash investigation showed that a 2012 Honda sedan was being driven by Diana Weldon of Barton Street in Belchertown. The Honda was headed north when it crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a 2005 Jeep Cherokee that was headed south and being driven by Erik Binczewski of Crawford Street in Bondsville.
That area of Chicopee Street was closed to traffic while responders dealt with the crash and rendered aid to both drivers. The road reopened to traffic at approximately 3:30 PM.
Both drivers were transported to the hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.
