Granby Police Fire and Ambulance Personnel, as well as South Hadley Fire and Ambulance Personnel Respond to Rollover Accident on Amherst St.

On October 19, 2018 at approximately 11:45, Granby Police, Fire, and Ambulance Personnel, were dispatched to the intersection of Amherst St. and Aldrich St. for what was reported as a motor vehicle crash with a vehicle on its side. While in route responders were advised that callers were now reporting that there were three people in the vehicle and one was unconscious. At this time, Granby Ambulance Personnel requested another paramedic ambulance from South Hadley District 1 and an Engine from South Hadley District 2 to come and assist as well.

Upon arrival, a Honda Element was observed on its side and several people were standing around the vehicle. Officers also observed a second vehicle, a silver Subaru with front end damage. It was learned from witnesses that the Honda Element was traveling south on Amherst St. when the vehicle left the roadway and went up an embankment and the vehicle rolled over at least two time and crashed in to the silver Subaru that was traveling northbound. The passengers from the Honda Element were transported to local hospitals for their injuries, the operator of the Honda Element had regained consciousness prior to being extricated from the vehicle. The operator of the Subaru was not injured. The crash is being investigated by the Granby Police.
