If you feel the hunters are too close to your residence or on your property and you do not want them there, please feel free to contact the Police Department. The season for  opossums and raccoons is presently open.  The season for many other species (including grey squirrel, rabbits, pheasants, quail, and grouse), opens October 18th . The Massachusetts Fish and Wildlife Hunting Abstracts can be found here. Fall Turkey season opens October 27th, and Black bear  season opens November 3. No hunting is allowed on Sunday . Hunters are reminded that they can not discharge a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling or 150 feet of a road, nor can they remain on property that is posted or where they have been asked to leave. Also- all firearms MUST be locked when not in use ( free gun locks are available at the Police Department.

Fire Lanes - NO Parking

Posted by chief on 20 Sep 2008 | Tagged as: general

Those of you who have been to the schools this Fall may have noticed the additon of  fire lanes at each of the schools. These areas were designated by the Fire Chief as NO PARKING areas, and are in effect whether or not school is in session. There have been times in the past when it would have been impossible for a fire truck to reach the school if needed due to the way vehicles were parked. This is particularly true during the winter when snowbanks tend to “shrink” the available parking. Vehicles may  pick-up/discharge passengers, PROVIDED they do not leave their vehicles.  Vehicles left unattended are subject to a $100 fine AND their vehicles may be towed. These regulations will be enforced this year, during school hours and after school event such as basketball games, parents meetings etc. PLEASE help us keep the children and other building occupants safe by parking elsewhere.
